Use of Cookies

What is a Cookie?

Cookies are small files which are used on most websites to store certain information about the user. The 2 main types of cookies are a session cookie or a persistent cookie. Session cookies are used just for the duration on the site and persistent cookies are used for repeat visits.

The purpose of cookies is to allow the site to remember you and your preferences, which allows the site to work faster and enhance your user experience.

An example of where cookies are used is on a shopping web site. Without cookies the shopping cart would not remember the choices made so the site would not function properly. Registering and logging into a site is another example where cookies are used to remember you.

Types of Cookies

Session Cookies

These are only temporary and are only used during each time you visit and browse a site. Once the browser is closed these cookies are deleted.

Persistent Cookies

These are permanent cookies which are saved on your computer for a fixed time. These cookies do not get deleted when a browser is closed.

Flash Cookies

Adobe Flash Player is used on many sites to provide video and game content to their users. If Adobe Flash is installed on your computer, Flash cookies will store small files such as the video clips to track users.

Adobe utilise their own cookies, which are not manageable through your browser settings but are used by the Flash Player for similar purposes, such as storing preferences or tracking users.

How to manage Cookies

You can find in the Help menu on your browser a how to guide to prevent and disable cookies. You can also set this to alert you about receiving new cookies.

Our site uses session cookies only. Once the browser is closed these cookies are deleted. In some cases flash cookies are also used.

We would recommend that you leave your cookies turned on otherwise this could affect some of the sites functionality. The cookies are needed to store flight items for you to be able to book and for you to be able to sign in.
